Access Control Systems

Control Who Gets In. Know Who's Inside.

A lock on the door tells you who's supposed to get in. An access control system tells you who actually did, when and for how long. Diego Tech designs and installs access control systems for commercial properties, government facilities, healthcare environments, residential communities and everything in between. From a single secured door to a campus-wide credential system, we build access infrastructure that fits your facility and your operation.

We hold an Arizona ROC contractor license and integrate access control with the surveillance and alarm systems we install, because access events and camera footage should always tell the same story.

What Types of Access Control Does Diego Tech Install?

Access control technology spans a range of credential types and installation formats. We work with all of them and recommend the right approach based on your facility, your users, and your security requirements.

Card Readers and Proximity Systems

Card-based and proximity fob systems are the most common commercial access control format. They're straightforward to administer: access can be granted, modified and revoked from a central management platform without touching hardware. Lost a card? Deactivate it in seconds. New hire? Credentials are added before their first day.

Biometric Access

Biometric readers use fingerprint, retinal or facial recognition to verify identity without any credential to lose, share or copy. They're appropriate for high-security environments, server rooms, areas with sensitive data or controlled substances and locations where shared credentials create a compliance problem.

Mobile Credential Systems

Mobile credentials use a smartphone as the access device. Users tap their phone to a reader the same way they'd use a contactless payment. Mobile credentials are increasingly preferred because they eliminate the cost of physical cards, are harder to share and integrate with mobile device management policies.

Keypad and PIN Entry

Keypad access is appropriate for locations where user volume is low, turnover of access codes is manageable and a physical credential is unnecessary. Common in secondary doors, utility access points  and areas where a limited number of known individuals need access on a consistent basis.

Gate Access and Community Entry Systems

Gate access is its own category. Vehicle traffic, pedestrian entry and visitor management all present different requirements than interior door hardware. We design and install gate access systems for:

  • Residential communities and HOAs: Controlled entry for residents using vehicle transponders, card readers or keypad entry, with visitor access managed through intercoms or call-ahead codes
  • Commercial parking structures: Multi-tenant access management, paid parking integration and barrier gate control for controlled parking environments
  • Industrial and agricultural facilities: Heavy-duty gate operators for high-traffic vehicle access points, with integration into the broader facility access system
  • School and government campuses: Controlled vehicle entry for secure facilities with access logging and remote gate management capability

Access Management and Multi-Location Oversight

A well-designed access control system is a management platform that gives you visibility and control over who has access to what, across every location.

For businesses with multiple facilities, we design systems with centralized management: one platform to manage credentials, review access logs, set schedules and respond to access events across all sites. When an employee leaves, their access is revoked everywhere at once. When a new location opens, it's added to the existing platform.

Access logs are also a compliance resource. Many industries require documentation of who accessed specific areas and when. An access control system that's properly configured provides that record automatically.

Who We Install Access Control For

  • Healthcare Facilities: HIPAA-required access restrictions to patient data areas, medication storage and controlled substance areas
  • Schools and Universities: Campus-wide access management, integration with lockdown systems and visitor management at main entry points
  • Corporate and Professional Offices: Server room and IT infrastructure protection, executive suite access and after-hours access management
  • Government and DoD Facilities: Compliance-grade access control with full audit logging and integration with physical security infrastructure
  • Residential Communities: Community gate management, amenity access control and resident credential administration
  • Industrial and Agricultural Operations: Facility access management for locations with large staffing and contractor populations

Access Control and Surveillance Work Together

Access logs tell you who badged in. Surveillance footage shows you what happened after. We design both systems to integrate, so when you pull up an access event, the associated camera footage is a few clicks away.
