Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

When Disaster Strikes, How Fast Can You Recover?

Get a Disaster Recovery Plan

Every business has data it can't afford to lose. The question isn't whether something will go wrong. It's how long you can be down before the damage becomes serious, and whether your current setup can actually get you back up in that window. Most businesses that haven't tested their backup plan find out too late that the answer is no.

Diego Tech designs and manages disaster recovery solutions for Arizona businesses: server imaging, cloud backup, recovery planning and ransomware response. We also back everything up ourselves, so when you need us, we're ready.

"We have all the backups. We have disaster recoveries... they have peace of mind."

The Scenarios That End Businesses Without a Plan

Disaster recovery planning is easier to put off when the scenarios feel unlikely. But each of these happens to real businesses every year:

  • Ransomware Attack: Your files get encrypted overnight. The attacker wants payment. Your general liability policy doesn't cover it. Without a clean backup, you're paying or rebuilding from scratch.
  • Server Theft: A break-in takes your server. If your only backup was local, it's gone too.
  • Fire or Flood: A physical event at your office destroys hardware. Cloud backups save your data. Local-only backups don't.
  • Lost or Stolen Employee Laptop: A device with client data or business credentials disappears. How long before someone uses what's on it?
  • Accidental Deletion: A file, a folder or a database gets deleted or corrupted. Without versioned backups, it's gone.

The common thread: the businesses that recover quickly are the ones that had a tested plan before a disaster happened.

What Diego Tech Backs Up and How

Server Imaging

We create full server images at regular intervals: the operating system, applications, configurations and data. If a server fails or gets encrypted, we restore your system from the image. You're back up in hours, not days.

Cloud Backup

An offsite cloud backup protects your data from physical events at your location. Even if your office burns down or gets broken into, your data is intact and accessible. We configure, monitor and test cloud backups for every client.

Hybrid Backup

Local backup gives you fast recovery. Cloud backup gives you protection from physical loss. A hybrid approach combines both, so you get the speed of local recovery and the safety of offsite storage. This is what we recommend for most businesses.

Endpoint Backup

Workstations and laptops hold data too. We back up individual devices so a lost or stolen laptop doesn't mean lost work. Remote wipe capability is part of the solution for mobile devices.

Disaster Recovery Planning: More Than Backups

Backups are one piece. A disaster recovery plan answers the questions backups don't: Who calls who when something happens? In what order do your systems come back online? Who has the authority to declare a disaster and start the recovery process? How do your employees work while your systems are being restored?

Diego Tech builds documented recovery plans that include recovery time objectives (RTOs), recovery point objectives (RPOs), contact lists, step-by-step restoration procedures and communication protocols. Then we test them, because a plan that hasn't been tested is just a document.

The Cyber Insurance Gap

Many business owners assume their general liability or commercial property insurance covers a ransomware attack or data breach. It usually doesn't. Cyber coverage is a separate policy, and the requirements to qualify for it are getting stricter.

Underwriters increasingly require documented backup practices, MFA enforcement, endpoint protection and incident response plans before issuing a policy. If you can't demonstrate those controls, you either don't qualify or you will pay significantly higher premiums.

Diego Tech helps clients get their environment into shape for cyber insurance applications. We can document your controls, provide evidence of backup testing and guide you through what underwriters typically ask. We're not an insurance broker. We're the technical team that makes your application defensible.

Ransomware and Cybersecurity Go Together

Disaster recovery handles what happens after an attack. Cybersecurity reduces the chance it happens in the first place. See our Cybersecurity & Risk Assessment page for the full picture on protecting your business before something goes wrong. contact us
